Incredible lineup at CFO M&A event 21 July: post-deal integration

post-title

The ink is dry. The deal is done. You have just successfully completed an M&A transaction. The question is: what now? At our CFO event on 21 July 2016 at the African Pride Melrose Arch Hotel we will unpack how to go about integration or separation after a deal under the theme ‘Where the rubber meets the road’. An incredible lineup of top five CFOs will help us unpack what needs to happen after a merger, acquisition or sale.

What to think of Charl Keyter, CFO of Sibanye Gold, perhaps the most exciting story in South African mining at the moment? What started as a dogged local spinoff of Goldfields is now an acquisitive phenomenon, scooping up some of Amplats’ platinum mines and even venturing into coal.

What to think of Deon Fredericks, CFO of Telkom, who during his long career at the telecoms giant saw the firm morph from rusty state machinery to a dynamic, entrepreneurial, future-proof player? What happened after Telkom bought Business Connexion – and what role did the CFO have to play?

Or what to think of Cobus Grove (pictured with Prof Mervyn King), who turned around the ailing vehicle tracking and fleet management firm DigiCore. He was so successful that the American Novatel Wireless bought the South African company for a premium last year and Cobus became DigiCore CEO, with a global role on the horizon.

And then there is Ryan McDougall of the Namibian Trustco Group, which recently has ventured into land, property and mining – miles away from insurance, which used to be its core business. How do you prevent becoming too thinly spread?

Colin Brown, the CFO behind the recent success of Super Group, will lead a separate round table discussion about ‘Treasury as a critical function for post deal success’. After gaining a load of international experience, Colin started as head of treasury at Super Group, fundamentally changing the way the firm treated cash flow and ultimately – with his digital skills – putting the company back on the road to acquisitive success.

What do these five CFOs have in common? All of them are former winners or nominees at the CFO Awards! Colin Brown was winner of the Finance Transformation and Strategy Execution Awards in 2014 and of the Finance & Technology Award in 2015, Cobus Grove won the Compliance & Governance Award in 2015 and Charl Keyter, Deon Fredericks and Ryan McDougall were all nominated for the 2016 CFO Awards.
