KPMG boss Moses Kgosana briefly interrupted his annual leave on Wednesday to meet with CFO South Africa founder Alex van Groningen and discuss the challenges that face south African CFOs. “CFOs are our biggest supporters and customers, so I want to be part of their community,” Kgosana said. “We can share information and experiences about the challenges we face from different angles. And I can learn a lot from the CFO community.”

CFO South Africa-director Van Groningen thanked Kgosana for making time to receive him at the historic Wanooka House in Johannesburg. Kgosana is KPMG's CEO for Southern Africa and also heads the executive team for the entire continent. He also sits on the global board for the accounting and advisory firm. "We currently have 260 partners in South Africa. In a country like Nigeria we have 60 partners."

Together Kgosana and Van Groningen explored future avenues of cooperation, spoke about Kgosana's impressive career and about the challenges he feels CFOs face, particularly when eyeing opportunities in other African countries. We do a bi-annual CFO Survey," Kgosana said. "The last one is recent and showed that 60 percent of CFOs is happy in their job, but most of them are struggling with talent management. And in Africa finance transformation - for example shared services centres - is also a difficult topic.
