CFOs need to be on the pulse of their organisations, says Investec's Nishlan Samujh

post-title

CFOs are an integral part of the corporate engine room. We live in difficult times – look at the conditions in Europe, the USA and back home in South Africa. CFOs have got to understand the heartbeat of their organisations and really feel the pulse, along with being connected to the external world," said Investec CFO Nishlan Samujh.

Samujh was speaking on the sidelines of the recent 2017 CFO Awards, where he picked up the Compliance & Governance Award for his diligent and forward-looking approach to risk and audit. Samujh is an accomplished finance professional who has been a loyal servant of the Investec group since joining them in 2000. A chartered accountant, he made his way to the CFO role by working up through the ranks, serving initially as the group's head of international finance before assuming the mantle of group CFO and becoming an executive director in 2016.

Samujh added that he was proud to be associated with an organisation that was bringing the finance community together in South Africa, adding a lot of value, and stressed that he hoped to have a long-term association with CFO SA.
