Claudelle von Eck, CEO Institute of Internal Auditors SA: Partner with CFOs

post-title

“Instead of having an adversarial relationship with CFOs, internal auditors should be seen as a welcome pair of extra eyes and ears,” says Claudelle von Eck, CEO of the Institute of Internal Auditors South Africa (IIA SA). Traditionally internal auditors are seen as compliance watchdogs, but that role is changing, says Von Eck. “In successful organisations we see the relationship between CFOs and internal auditors growing into partnerships.”

On Monday the energetic Von Eck met with Alex van Groningen (left in the picture) and Melle Eijckelhoff (right), founders and directors of CFO South Africa, the fast growing and exclusive network organisation for top finance executives. At the Contessa Tea Shop in Johannesburg Von Eck spoke with passion about the role IIA SA plays in developing the internal auditing profession in South Africa. She also spoke about the challenges in the public sector and called on CFOs to partner with their internal auditors.

The full account of the conversation will appear on this website at a later stage.
