Event alert: learn from Sasol's CFO and the JSE's CEO

post-title

Sasol's new CFO Bongani Nqwababa and CEO Nicky Newton-King of the JSE Limited are the biggest draw cards at CFO South Africa's event on Thursday 25 June 2015. Together with Mark Wainer, Executive Chairman at Redefine Properties, they will be sharing their thoughts on 'The CFO as Business Partner' at KPMG Wanooka Place in Johannesburg.

Last month Bongani was announced as the winner of the Finance Transformation Award 2015 for the way he managed to modernise and streamline Anglo American Platinum during his tenure at the mining firm. “I have a passion to make finance relevant for business, to give people the tools and make them accountable in order to put the business in a better place,” he said on acceptance of the award. On Thursday Bongani will not only talk about his work at Sasol, but also reflect at his CFO roles at Shell Southern Africa, Eskom, South African Airways and Amplats.

The event is part of a two part series, organised in conjunction with principal sponsor KPMG around the theme “Influencing and driving a growth strategy - the CFO as a genuine business partner”. This is the event description:

Numerous business leaders and finance executives have long recognized the need for CFOs to step out of a numbers-focused role and into a true partnership with the business—by participating in strategic planning, providing essential input on funding, managing growth plans and helping to maximize shareholder returns. But now, a growing chorus is calling for a significant new shift in the finance function toward truly business partnership activity and engagement.

The evening's Master Class will be preceded and followed by unparalleled networking opportunities for CFOs. It is the first CFO South Africa event after the enormously successful CFO Awards 2015 and we surely are looking forward to see everyone again!
