Finance Indaba 2017: ClarkHouse is pushing human capital boundaries

post-title

"What sets us apart is the journey we go on with clients and candidates in finding niche roles. We are not in the business of finding people jobs – we find careers for them," says Roy Clark, CEO of ClarkHouse, a gold partner at the Finance Indaba Africa 2017 on 12 and 13 October 2017 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.

Do you want to learn more about about how ClarkHouse is pushing human capital boundaries? Do you want to be informed about the latest and greatest in finance? Then don't miss the Finance Indaba Africa 2017.

In the coming weeks, we will be chatting to all the Indaba partners, asking them why they are joining the event and what their most important message for finance professionals is.

Why did you choose to partner with the Finance Indaba and what was your experience of last year's event?
"The Finance Indaba was an attractive new concept - unique and refreshing - that talked to our clientele. Participation was beneficial to us and our partners. It was a truly world-class event and much bigger than I expected. The value-add in coming back is that it attracts a phenomenal calibre of individual and the event itself is of phenomenal calibre."

You have brought in a special guest speaker to open the event?
"We are bringing Stan Slap (pictured), cultural guru and New York Times bestselling author, to the event as the opening speaker. Culture is often spoken about, but seldom understood - people struggle to button it down. So in view of our relationship with the CFO South Africa community, we thought Slap's insights and knowledge would make for a phenomenal opening for the Finance Indaba. We had been introduced to Slap during our Diversity Day. He has run a successful consultancy for over 20 years and has dealt with the likes of Google, Apple and Microsoft."

What lies in store for ClarkHouse over the next year?
"We remain true to our philosophy of future-focused human capital. We are pushing the boundaries on human capital trends that relate to talent engagement, employee analytics and cutting-edge diversity. We are driving forward as a human capital business enabler, helping companies find phenomenal talent and also working with them through our advisory business."

Has economic volatility affected the business?
"We play in a niche space. People need skilled talent and that is a non-negotiable. The market has been good to us, but nevertheless, it is a difficult one. There is a skills shortage and we are in a volatile economy. There also government issues, with individuals shying away from making a commitment in terms of decisions. Organisations are not looking for your typical 'tick-box' accountants, but a dynamic new breed of financial director or CFOs who are true business partners, are seen as coaches of the businesses and are closely aligned with the CEO

What sets ClarkHouse apart from its competitors?
"We are focused on skilled individuals. What sets us apart is the journey we go on with clients and candidates in finding niche roles. We are not in the business of finding people jobs - we find careers for them. We not just a recruitment business, we are a human capital business enabler. We understand the market a lot better because we stay on top of trends."
