Grant Thornton, David Campbell CEO: CFO SA responds to a need

post-title

"I believe CFO South Africa is responding to a need in the country," said David Campbell, Chief Executive Officer for Grant Thornton in South Africa. According to Campbell business networking in the country is relatively fragmented. "When an effort is made to bring professionals together it seems to draw people in. Everybody wants to meet someone with influence or discuss common problems with peers."

On Monday Campbell met with Alex van Groningen and Melle Eijckelhoff, founders of CFO SA. After establishing itself as a leading network organisation in The Netherlands, CFO is currently creating a buzz in Johannesburg, where they are organizing a series of events, interviews and meetings supporting and facilitating more interaction between financial professionals.

Grant Thornton has been in South Africa since 1920. The company provides a comprehensive range of services, including assurance, tax and specialist business advice to dynamic organisations. Over the last two years Campbell, who enjoyed a long career with Grant Thornton in the United Kingdom, has been busy steering the firm away from a fairly federal structure to a more integrated company.

In a candid conversation Campbell spoke about the many challenges and opportunities CFOs and assurance firms face in South Africa. Keep an eye on this website for a comprehensive account of Campbell's chat with CFO SA!
