Kent Karro, Senior Partner Horwath Zeller Karro: Keeping up with the taxes

post-title

“In my field we have to run faster and faster to stay in the same place,” says Kent Karro, partner and chairman of the Cape Town based consulting firm Horwath Zeller Karro. On Monday Karro met with Melle Eijckelhoff and Steffie Bosman of CFO South Africa, the leading networking platform for CFOs and finance professionals in South Africa. He provided a great number of fascinating and eloquent insights into the ever-changing tax landcape in South Africa.

"The emphasis these days is on tax morality," Karro explained. He also elaborated on underpromising and overdelivering, integrity and honesty and mentoring of juniors. A full account of the conversation with the experienced Capetonian will be published on this website in the following weeks. According to the highly esteemed tax specialist there is a big opportunity for CFO SA to link finance professionals in the rainbow nation. "If CFO SA can offer a service to members, it will definitely become a success."

Horwath Zeller Karro is a member of Crowe Horwath International, which consists of over 120 locally based independent representative firms with 415 offices globally. The firm is ranked in the top 10 accounting and management consulting firms worldwide, but cherishes its status as a 2nd tier firm, preferring to let the quality of service delivery dictate the size of the localised firms.

The Cape Town firm consists of 9 partners and over 80 employees, many of whom have attained postgraduate and international qualifications in various subjects. Specialised areas of operation include state planning, income tax, value-added tax, computers, leisure and tourism, curatorships, exchange control, labour dispute mediation and financial management advice to owner-managed businesses.
