Naspers sees significant profit increase

post-title

Naspers has reported in its recently release full-year results that its core headline earnings were up 21% to $1.2 billion. The company said that it regards core headline earnings as its best indicator of sustainable earnings. Interestingly, some 77% of its revenues were generated outside South Africa.

Key to lifting the company's revenues (by as much as 6% or $12.2 billion), are its e-commerce businesses and its 34% stake in Chinese internet giant Tencent. Naspers' e-commerce revenues increased 6% to $2.6 billion, while Tencent recorded 30% annual growth to 102.9 billion yuan for the year ending 31 December 2015.

Koos Bekker (pictured), Naspers chair, seems satisfied with the results, saying that the group delivered a satisfactory performance overall.
