Following his recent appointment as non-executive director of Allan Gray, former finance minister Nhlanhla Nene (pictured) has now also been appointed a resident advisor to Thebe Investment Corporation.

A statement issued by Vusi Khanyile, Thebe chairman, said Nene's appointment would last two years, beginning in May. According to Khanyile, Nene will assist the company with its growth plans, as well as the rolling out of a strategic engagement agenda and framework.

Khanyile said in his statement:

"Thebe Investment Corporation is on a growth path that requires significant financial resources and key skills in order to execute its strategy and plans… We believe that Mr. Nene's immense skills will be most valuable to Thebe at this time. We are pleased, as the Thebe team, to welcome him on board. We trust that this role will enable him to make the contribution that we believe he is capable of making, whilst he realizes his own professional aspirations."

Although Nene's appointment is a full-time position, he will remain on the boards of companies he declared prior to this appointment at Thebe.
