Nico Bezuidenhout (pictured), currently CEO of Mango, South African Airways' low-cost subsidiary, has been appointed CEO and executive director of fastjet, effective 1 August 2016. Colin Child, fastjet chair, welcomes Bezuidenhout’s appointment. He was quoted in the media as saying:

"Nico brings strong commercial and strategic skills and a wealth of experience of operating a low-cost carrier. This experience, together with his detailed knowledge of the markets in which fastjet operates, will be invaluable to the Company as it seeks to capture the growth opportunities in the region."

Bezuidenhout has been CEO of Mango since it first started a decade ago, and was pivotal in growing the airline's market share to 25% of domestic air travel. During his tenure, he also acted twice as interim CEO of SAA, Mango's parent company. Bezuidenhout has expressed excitement at joining fastjet at this point in its development, and bids a sad adieu to Mango, which he described as being like a family.

Mango said in a statement that it is with immense gratitude and a measure of sadness that it says farewell to its outgoing CEO, Bezuidenhout.
