Nik Rabinowitz lights up CFO Awards 2017

post-title

Comedian Nik Rabinowitz went down a charm at last night’s CFO Awards 2017, with his incisive wit and improvisational comedy having guests rolling in the aisles throughout the evening.

The veteran stand-up comedian, who has appeared in movies, TV shows and on stages across the globe, was in fine form as emcee. He took over the mic duties from the equally entertaining Vusi Thembekwayo this year and filled in the gaps in proceedings with his inimitable brand of irreverent humour foreign to boardrooms, poking fun at everything from his Jewish heritage and mid-life crises to nominees' Twitter accounts and parliamentary debates.

His command of the Xhosa language and ability to emulate accents (he does a fine Archbishop Desmond Tutu) also went down a treat. Many of the attendees who handed out or accepted awards commented on his performance, including Deloitte's deputy CEO Sihlalo Jordan. It was the perfect foil to the more serious overtones of the pre-dinner masterclass, which focused on the role CFOs played in advancing transformation.

With his impish grin and smart pot-shots at just about everything in South African society, Rabinowitz threatens to become a firm favourite among CFO SA members - assuming, as he said at the end of the evening, he is invited back!
