Peter Goss (SizweNtsalubaGobodo) gives CFOs insight in fraud risks

post-title

A fascinating talk on the governance of fraud risks was one of the highlights of a very successful CFO South Africa event around Corporate Growth on 10 July 2014 in the immaculate Saxon Boutique Hotel in Johannesburg. It was Peter Goss, Head of Forensics at audit and advisory firm SizweNtsalubaGobodo (SNG), who captivated CFOs and finance leaders with a master class on the detection, prevention and governance of corruption and fraud.

SNG's CEO Victor Sekese also contributed, while CFOs Megan Pydigadu (MiX Telematics) and Jaco van der Sandt (Mutual & Federal Insurance) spoke about the derailers of growth in their respective organizations. A parallel round table session was hosted by accounts payable analysis firm Transparent and included an impressive group of financial leaders, including award-winning CFOs like Colin Brown (Supergroup) and Aarti Takoordeen (JSE Limited). They discussed best practices in managing growth without derailing the organization.

The impressive Dario Drago, CFO at pharmaceutical firm Novartis, concluded the official part of the evening with a moving personal account of the challenges that he experiences around growth in South Africa. The well-traveled Italian complimented the (financial) standard in the South African business world. "I won't call South Africa an emerging market. The economy is very close to the world's mature markets," he said.
