Shabeer Khan | Chief Financial Officer | Department of Trade & Industry

As a young child, Shabeer Khan dreamt of becoming an astronaut and a Formula One racing driver. Although his career seems to have taken a slightly different form, Mr. Khan still finds a lot of fulfillment in his current role as the Chief Financial Officer of the Department of Trade and Industry and even encourages young Chartered Accountants to follow a similar path. Prior to his current job, Mr. Khan has served as the Senior Audit Manager at Auditor General of South Africa.

In 2013, he proceeded to become the CFO at the DTI and in 2014 he also became board member at the Coega Development Corporation.For his work as CFO at the DTI, he was nominated for the CFO Awards in both 2015 and 2016. His success as Chief Financial Officer might very well be explained by his workvision: Being responsible and being focused. Khan says that he does not believe in procrastination. He always clears his desk before leaving the office. "My focus is on doing the best in whatever I do; then I have no regrets."
