Dawn Mbatha was appointed as the CFO of the IEC (Electoral Commission of South Africa) in December 2020. She has also served as a non-executive board chair of Segokaku Transport and non-executive director of Cricket South Africa in that time.
She joined the IEC in 2019 as the interim CFO. Before that, she was the associate director of the TFR Consortium at the Department of Defence, as well as the interim CFO of the Road Agency Limpopo SOC.
Dawn started her career as an article clerk at SNG, and later became an audit manager. She was seconded to PwC Los Angeles as a senior associate, before returning to South Africa as an inspector for the Independent Regulating Board of Auditors. From 2015 to 2016 she was an audit partner at Ngubane & Co, and from 2016 until 2018 she was an audit committee member at the CATHSSETA (The Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority).
Dawn is a qualified chartered accountant and CTA with a BAccSc degree from the University of Pretoria. She has also completed her APT at the University of Johannesburg.
Dawn has been nominated for the 2024 CFO Awards for her work as the CFO of the IEC.
