Lucas has been nominated for his work as the FD of Distell.
Lucas Verwey has been nominated for the 2021 CFO Awards for the work he has done as the FD of Distell. He was previously nominated for the 2017 CFO Awards.
At the annual ‘Oscars for South African finance professionals’, which is now entering its seventh year, CFOs of listed companies, large corporations, state-owned entities and government institutions are recognised and rewarded for their outstanding performance and leadership.
Lucas is a qualified CA(SA) with a CFA degree in accounting and business management. He also holds a bachelor of accounting science degree.
He joined Distell in 2014 as a non-executive director before being appointed as group FD in September 2015. From 2013 to 2015 he served as the FD of CapeVin Holdings. Before that, he served as an investment executive at Remgro for five years.
