New BME FD Nadia Statham believes it’s an exciting time to serve the mining sector

Nadia has been appointed as the FD of BME, and looks forward to helping strengthen its performance.

Nadia Statham has been appointed as the FD of blasting and explosives company BME, a member of Omnia Group.

“Despite the disruptions of the Covid-19 pandemic, this is an exciting time to be serving the mining sector,” Nadia says. “Minerals remain vital to global growth, and I am looking forward to helping strengthen BME’s financial capability to drive our contribution and performance.”

She highlighted that BME was on board with Omnia’s strategic journey, which includes global expansion, innovative solutions and trusted performance. She noted that her role would include bringing breadth to the financial role in the business, and would also open opportunities to coach and mentor BME staff in the financial area.

A qualified CA(SA), Nadia has worked in the mining environment for over 12 years after earning her BCom honours and master’s degrees in financial management from the University of Johannesburg.

She joined BME in 2017 as head of commercial and progressed to the position of general manager of commercial in 2019, becoming a member of the executive committee.
