Christopher Forlee has been appointed CEO of the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa). The appointment, effective 1 January 2017, will span a period of five years. Forlee will also be a full-time regulator member of Nersa.

Tina Joemat-Pettersson, Minister of Energy, when making the announcement earlier in the week said:

"I look forward to the meaningful and progressive impact and stability that Forlee will bring to the wider energy sector in general, and Nersa in particular."

Forlee, an electrical engineer, was responsible for regulation of the petroleum pipelines industry within Nersa. Over the years he has held various technical, managerial and executive positions within government, state-owned entities and the business sector.
