PIC appoints Batandwa Damoyi as new CFO

Batandwa Damoyi has been appointed as the new CFO of PIC, and will take over from Brian Mavuka.

The Public Investment Corporation (PIC) has appointed Batandwa Damoyi as its new CFO. Batandwa takes over from Brian Mavuka, who has been acting in the role since November 2018.

According to a statement by the company, Batandwa will be responsible for maintaining adequate accounting records, prudent financial controls and the integrity of the PIC’s financial statements, according to IFRS. This includes ensuring that the internal financial controls are sound, as well as overseeing the external audit process by the Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA).

Batandwa joins the PIC from Libana Consulting, where she was the CEO from April 2019 until April 2024. Before that, she was the general manager of finance for African Exploration Mining and Finance Corporation, and before that she was the financial reporting and compliance manager at Eskom.

She completed her articles at Deloitte in 2008, after being seconded to the Netherlands for four months.

Batandwa is a qualified chartered accountant (CA) and has completed the Strategic Leadership Programme at the GIBS Business School. She also has a BSc in statistics from the University of Free State.
