Refilwe Nkabinde appointed as new Vodacom South Africa FD

Refilwe’s appointment marks a milestone for Vodacom, which has reached a 50/50 gender split at exco.

Refilwe Nkabinde has been appointed as the new FD of Vodacom South Africa, with effect from 1 November. She will be taking over from Sitho Mdlalose, who continues on his Vodacom leadership journey as MD of Vodacom Tanzania.

According to Vodacom South Africa CHRO Matimba Mbungela, Refilwe’s appointment marks a significant milestone for the company’s diversity agenda, reaching a 50/50 equal representation in the executive committee.

Since joining Vodacom in 2018 as managing executive: CBU finance business partner, Refilwe has played a valuable role in supporting decision-making. She is a qualified CA(SA) with more than 19 years of financial leadership experience across a range of industries and has served as a non-executive director for both listed and unlisted entities.

Prior to joining Vodacom, Refilwe served as the CFO of BCX. Before that, she spent 10 years at Standard Bank in various finance roles.
