Royal Bafokeng Platinum welcomes two CAs to its board, one of whom will chair it.

Royal Bafokeng Platinum (RBPlat) has announced changes to its board. Obakeng Phetwe, a chartered accountant and non-executive director of RBPlat since February 2018, will assume the function of the board chairperson. Obakeng is also currently the chief executive officer of the Royal Bafokeng Nation Development Trust. He is also a non-executive director on the boards of Royal Bafokeng Holdings, RMB Holdings, RMI Holdings and MOGS Oil and Gas Proprietary.

Mark Moffett, an independent non-executive director of RBPlat since September 2014 and also a chartered accountant, will assume the function of lead independent director. Mark is currently also an independent non-executive director on the board of Exxaro Resources and has previously held senior executive positions within Xstrata, initially as chief financial officer of the Xstrata Alloys business and more recently as group controller of Xstrata. Prior to this he held senior finance positions within Anglo American and the De Beers Group.

Both appointments come as independent non-executive chairperson, Kgomotso Moroka, retires from the RBPlat Board.

In a statement, the board expressed confidence in the contribution that Obakeng and Mark will each make to the board.
