SABC appoints Yolande van Biljon as new CFO

The South African Broadcasting Corporation has announced the appointment of Yolande van Biljon as their new CFO with effect from 25 June 2018.

Yolande will be contributing significant experience to her new role as Chief Financial Officer, which she gained from various organisations, including Denel Dynamics – a division of Denel SOC Ltd – as Manager for Finance Accounting and later CFO, and Glad Africa Group (Pty)

She holds a B.Com in Accounting, B.Com and B.Compt Honours, and M.Com in Taxation. She also qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1996. 

Bongumusa Makhathini, chairperson of the SABC board, said:

“She has made a meaningful contribution during her tenure at Denel Dynamics, where she participated in the turnaround of the organisation.” 

Along with the announcement of Yolande’s appointment, came the announcement of a new CEO, Madoda Mxakwe, with effect from 1 July 2018. 

Earlier this week the SABC announced the appointment of a new Group CEO and CFO.

Bongumusa said that the appointments were in line with the board’s commitment to continuously ensuring stability within the organisation. 

“These appointments affirm our commitment to attract and retain the best skills to take the SABC to greater heights, particularly to address the evolving broadcasting environment enabled by technology and the changing media consumer patterns. We are proud to say that these appointments reflect diversity in relation to skills, age, gender and race,” he said.
