Santam appoints Tavaziva Madzinga as new CEO

Tavaziva Madzinga will be succeeding Lizé Lambrechts as Santam’s new CEO.

Santam has announced the appointment of Tavaziva Madzinga as its new CEO. Tavaziva will be succeeding Lizé Lambrechts, who intends to retire during 2022.

Lizé will remain in her role as CEO until 30 June 2022 to facilitate a smooth transition to Tavaziva. Following the transition period, Tavaziva will step into the role from 1 July 2022.

Tavaziva is a qualified actuary and has worked in the insurance and broader financial services sector spanning life, non-life, asset management and banking for the past 20 years. He has worked primarily in South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa, in both technical and business leadership roles at country and regional level.

After more than 16 years at Old Mutual, Tavaziva joined Swiss Re for four years, initially as CEO for the MEA and later CEO for the UK and Ireland, based in London.

He joins Santam from Britam Holdings, where he was the group MD.
