Sara Bux to head CIMA Southern Africa

post-title

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has appointed Sara Bux (pictured) as its new Associate Director: Southern Africa. Bux, who joined CIMA on 7 March this year, has been charged with driving the long-term Southern Africa strategy, and will report to Badibanga Promesse, the Africa Regional Vice President.

Promesse said:

"Bux is tasked with bringing visibility, increasing brand awareness and growing the membership and student base throughout Southern Africa. We would like to see management accounting become the profession that unlocks effective practices for business success and optimisation."

Bux joins CIMA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) where she was the Executive Development Manager responsible for creating education interventions required for business optimisation. Prior to this she worked mainly within the education sector, with a focus on entrepreneurship.

Working in the education sector is of fundamental importance, Bux says:

"Being raised in an untransformed South Africa, increased my awareness of how gender and race prejudices could have inhibited my potential. Education and lifelong learning became my keys to overcoming such potential inhibition. I am very excited to be a part of CIMA as I view the institute as highly relevant, a key influencer and strategically-positioned to lead the way we think about business. CIMA emphasizes the relevance of the management accounting professional in all industry sectors and across public and private organizations. CIMA ensures that the current and future pool of management accounting professional are well prepared to lead business with agility in current uncertain and volatile business environments."

Bux will be conferred a PhD in Entrepreneurship studies by the University of Pretoria in April.
