South African Wayne Hempe appointed as TBWA/\Chiat\Day LA’s new CFO

Wayne has been with the group for 14 years and is thrilled to join the TBWA\Chiat\Day LA team.

TBWA\Chiat\Day Los Angeles has announced the appointment of South African Wayne Hempe as its new CFO.

“I have always admired Chiat\Day LA and am thrilled to join the team during this exciting time in their journey,” says Wayne. “I am passionate about creating an environment where we nurture our people to deliver the best product to our clients, moving us from success to significance amongst our peers.”

According to a statement by the company, Wayne will be integral in developing TBWA\Chiat\Day LA’s business plans for growth and will be in charge of the agency’s overall financial performance, as well as its client and other stakeholder negotiations.

Wayne has spent 14 years within the TBWA group, previously holding senior leadership positions at Nissan United, TBWA\Worldwide, TBWA\South Africa and TBWA\NEBOKO in Amsterdam. Most recently, Wayne served as the VP of finance at TBWA’s Nissan United North America.

Wayne holds a B.Com accounting and finance degree from the University of Cape Town. He started his career as a senior financial accountant at Group RCI in Johannesburg. Before joining TBWA, he served as the group financial manager of Johnnic Communications.

The company also announced the appointment of Courtney Nelson as its MD and Sheri Thorburn as its CTO.

According to TBWA, Wayne, Courtney and Sheri round out the agency’s executive leadership team. “Wayne and Courtney have exceptional experience and big hearts. I am confident this powerful combination added to an already deep bench of agency leaders will further accelerate our momentum while also enriching our culture,” says CEO Erin Riley.
