Stuart Hughes excited about facing the challenges in South Africa as Pernod Ricard SA FD.
Pernod Ricard South Africa has appointed Stuart Hughes as its new finance director as of 1 August 2018. He replaces Brigitte Staley, who left the group, and will report to Paul Scanlon, managing director of Pernod Ricard South Africa. Stuart will also be a member of the executive management team. Before taking up the South African appointment, Stuart served as the Interim country manager and finance director for Pernod Ricard Angola.
About coming to South Africa, Stuart said:
“I am excited about joining the South Africa business as it is in one of the most dynamic markets in Africa. South Africa has very different economic challenges to those in Angola. There are a lot more local and international brands competing for share of voice. In Angola the biggest challenges were purely around economic survival, whereas in the South Africa context it is more about how we engage with the consumer.”
Stuart joined the Pernod Ricard group in 2006 in their UK division, before taking roles in Russia & Eastern Europe and more recently in Angola.
“From a more operational perspective, I would like to build on the good work that has already been done in providing a solid infrastructure which supports the business in achieving its strategic objectives.”
