Tharisa Minerals CFO Michael Jones has been nominated for the 2026 CFO Awards, recognising his experience across financial management in the mining sector and investment banking.
Michael Jones has been CFO of Tharisa since May 2012, where he is responsible for the company’s financial operations and financial reporting.
He has more than seven years of senior financial management experience in the mining exploration and development sector, as well as 18 years of experience in investment banking, focusing on mergers.
Michael previously worked at BoE Investment Bank and UAL Merchant Bank Ltd as a manager. He later joined NM Rothschild & Sons as a director. Before joining Tharisa, he was CFO of Kameni.
He is a chartered accountant and a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). He holds a Bachelor of Accounting from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
Dubbed the “Oscars of Finance”, the CFO Awards continue to celebrate leaders who raise the bar for people leadership in South Africa across listed companies, large corporations and government institutions.
The 2026 nominees will be celebrated at a gala event on 26 November, where winners across multiple categories, including the CFO of the Year title, will be announced.
