Garry Pita has decided to part ways with SOE Transnet, and will be replaced by Mark-Gregg McDonald.

Transnet CFO and 2017 CFO Awards winner Garry Pita announced his resignation on the evening of 19 April 2018. Mark-Gregg McDonald will take over as interim CFO.

According to Transnet, Pita said last year that he intended to resign from his post at the end of the 2017/18 financial year. He cited ill-health and strain from the job as his reasons.

Garry said:

“In the interest of my health and family, I have decided on a new set of priorities. I am glad that Transnet has agreed to release me at this time and wish to thank all the colleagues, members of the board for their support and guidance during my stint here. I will forever be grateful to them. The company is on a positive trajectory and is in good hands.”

Garry has been in Transnet’s employ for 12 years, having first joined the state-owned enterprise (SOE) in 2006. He was Transnet's chief procurement officer before being appointed CFO in February 2016.
