Humaniq has announced the launch of its Android app to enable users in Africa to access to next-generation financial services with facial recognition.

The application is designed for people currently excluded from financial services, and includes a mobile wallet with its own HMQ cryptocurrency and a messenger with end-to-end encryption. In addition to facial recognition, it also leverages behavioural biometrics.
“Humaniq is a project with a strong social message,” says Kirill Goryunov, CPO, Humaniq. “The ecosystem we have created and will continue to develop goes much further than simply providing access to next-gen financial services; our infrastructure will also include services in such spheres as humanitarian programmes, freelance employment, and healthcare. At present we are also putting significant emphasis on integration with partnering projects. It is important to note that we have a great technical team and we are making progress with challenging tasks such as facilitating the provision of user data for those who have no data yet.”
Users enroll with photographs for password-free access, and can earn HMQ coin cryptocurrency by frequently updating their biometric data.
The application has been launched in Uganda, Senegal, Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Rwanda following extensive field testing, according to the announcement.
Humaniq recently partnered with Coinfirm to integrate its anti money-laundering technology.
