Visa appoints Maurice Newa as MD of Southern Africa cluster

Maurice will be responsible for the development and implementation of Visa’s growth strategy in the region.

Visa has appointed Maurice Newa as its new MD of the Southern Africa cluster.

According to the company’s statement, Maurice will be responsible for the development and implementation of Visa’s growth strategy in the region. He will report to Aida Diarra, senior VP and head of sub-Saharan Africa, and will be part of the sub-Saharan Africa leadership team.

Before joining Visa, Maurice worked at Vaya Technologies, where he was CEO. “He brings to Visa over 25 years of experience in regional and global roles in mobile telephony, Fintech, digital technology solutions and blue-chip fast-moving consumer goods companies,” the company said.

Aida said Maurice’s appointment reflects the importance Visa places on the southern African markets. “The experience he brings will enable him to make immediate contributions to our strategy and growth,” she said. “We look forward to Maurice’s leadership in building on our efforts to help accelerate digitising commerce in southern Africa.”
