Zyda Rylands will stay on as the Woolworths SA CEO until 2024, after which the role will fall away.

Woolworths SA (WSA) CEO Zyda Rylands has tendered her early retirement “due to personal circumstances” after leading the division for six years.

The group announced that, after reviewing its leadership structure for the South African operations, it will not retain the CEO role for the division “as it seeks to streamline its operating model”.

Zyda has agreed to defer her planned early retirement to remain with the group until 2024, when the streamline process is concluded.

“For the remainder of her tenure, Zyda will focus her energies and her passion on leading the WSA Foods business, which she has been instrumental in growing and positioning as an industry-leading food retailer,” the group said in a statement.
