Daniel Grobler new Murray & Roberts Group FD

Murray & Roberts has appointed Daniel Grobler (pictured) as its new group FD, effective 1 April. Grobler takes over from outgoing FD Cobus Bester, who was in the position for six years. Bester is retiring and will step down on 31 March.

Henry Laas, Murray & Roberts Group Chief Executive, said:

"The Board selected and appointed Daniel after an extensive search for suitable internal and external candidates."

A CA(SA), Grobler has been employed in various financial and leadership functions within the group since 2010. Most recently, he was the MD of M&R Cementation, the group's African underground mining business, with a yearly turnover of R3.5 billion. He held various finance positions within the company prior to this, including Underground Mining business platform CFO and group corporate finance executive.

After completing his undergraduate and honours degrees at the University of Pretoria in 1998, Daniel completed his articles with Deloitte & Touche. He qualified as CA (SA) in 2003, after which he relocated to the Netherlands, where he was an Audit Manager with Deloitte until 2004. He held various financial positions with firms based in the UK before joining Murray & Roberts in 2010.
