Pembury Lifestyle Group FD Willem Marais resigns

Willem has been serving with the group for a year and has stepped down as FD from 10 January.

JSE-listed Pembury Lifestyle Group has announced the resignation of its finance director Willem Marais as of 10 January.

The group said in a statement that the search for a replacement has commenced immediately and that Willem will remain available for a period of time to assist the group during the transition period.

Willem has a B.Com Honours degree in accounting from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. In 2013 he was granted membership to the Golden Key International Honour Society and in 2014 was selected to be a Supplemental Instruction Tutor at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. 

He joined Deloitte in 2016 and completed his articles in 2018. During this time, he was involved with the audit of a number of large listed and unlisted companies. He became a qualified chartered accountant (SA) in January 2019. 

Willem joined Pembury as group financial manager in January 2019, assisting with the improvement in internal controls, providing support to the financial director and assisting with the audit for the year-end. He was later appointed as the financial director based on his performance.
