Sayurie Naidoo to become Anglo American Platinum’s new CFO

After acting in the role since October 2023, Sayurie has shown that she has what it takes to drop the “acting” and become Anglo American Platinum’s new CFO.

Anglo American Platinum has announced that acting CFO Sayurie Naidoo will become a permanent addition to the executive team from 1 May 2024. “Joining the leadership team is both exciting and an honour for me,” she says about the appointment.

“Amid the prevailing challenging macro-economic climate, our focus remains on achieving operational excellence through our action plan, prioritising cost and capital discipline to ensure the company remains competitive and sustainable for years to come,” she explains.

Sayurie started her journey with Anglo American over 15 years ago as a financial accountant, fresh out of her articles. A year later, she was appointed as a performance management and reporting analyst for the mine’s global marketing organisation in Luxembourg. A year after that, she joined member company Kumba Iron Ore as a senior specialist for corporate development, and later became the division’s principal accountant.

She joined Anglo American Platinum in 2017 as a senior manager for performance reporting. In 2020 she was appointed head of financial controlling, where she stayed until her appointment as acting CFO.

“It is with pride that I step into the role of CFO in a group that invested in my growth and helped unlock my potential,” Sayurie says.

Sayurie has been acting as CFO since Craig Miller assumed the CEO role in October 2023.

Her extensive knowledge of the business will enable her to successfully drive the execution of our change programmes.”

He adds that Sayurie will play an important role in helping the leadership team adapt to market realities, while focusing on efficiency and prudent resource management.
