Phembani Group's executive director of finance Sizwe Nkosi has been nominated for CFO Awards 2019.

Sizwe Nkosi has been nominated for the CFO Awards for his work as the executive director of finance at Phembani Group.

The CFO Awards 2019, known as the ‘Oscars for South African finance professionals’, gives CFOs of listed companies, large corporations, state-owned entities and government institutions the opportunity to be recognised and rewarded for their exceptional performance and leadership.

Sizwe’s 15 years’ experience after completing his articles has predominantly been in mining, including work in coal, diamonds, phosphates and commodities trading. Before joining Phembani, while he was CFO at JSE-listed Metmar Limited, he drove the successful takeover of the company by Traxys Group, a USA-headquartered company controlled by the Carlyle Group

He secured his CTA in the University of Natal (Durban), completed his articles with Ernst and Young and qualified as a chartered accountant in 2001. Sizwe also holds an MBA from the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business.

Phembani, established in 1994, is a South African based industrial holding company with a focus on investing in, as well as operating businesses and interests in the oil, gas, minerals, mineral resources, metals and infrastructure related (including construction, construction materials etc.) sectors in Africa.
