The Office of the Tax Ombud joins 2026 Finance Indaba as Gold partner

post-title

The Office of the Tax Ombud (OTO) will join the Finance Indaba as a Gold partner, highlighting its role as an independent channel for taxpayers seeking redress outside of the South African Revenue Service's (Sars) complaint mechanisms.

The Office of the Tax Ombud (OTO) was established in October 2013 to enhance the country’s tax administration system. Previously, there was no independent redress channel for taxpayers who had exhausted the normal complaints mechanisms.

The OTO is an independent and impartial channel for taxpayers unable to resolve a service, procedural or administrative complaint through Sars’s normal complaints management channels.

The oversight body works by reviewing the facts of the complaint and proposes a solution where possible. OTO’s operations are strictly underpinned by the Constitution and model best international practice used by the Tax Ombud systems governing Canada, the US and the UK.

Don’t miss the opportunity to engage with the OTO at the 2026 Finance Indaba, where over 3,000 finance professionals and industry leaders will gather for a day of learning, networking and fresh ideas and conversations. With multiple power-packed sessions led by top speakers and a vibrant expo floor, this is where conversations become strategies and strategies become action.

The full-day event will feature live demos, pitches, exhibitors from across the industry and insights from leading CFOs.
