Wescoal appoints Jubilant Speckman as permanent group CFO

Jubilant has been acting as group CFO since the resignation of Izak van der Walt.

Wescoal has appointed Jubilant Speckman as its permanent group CFO and executive director with effect from 1 February 2021. Jubilant has been acting as the group CFO since 1 September 2020 following the resignation of Izak van der Walt after three years as group CFO.

About her appointment, Jubilant says:

"I am delighted and humbled by my appointment and grateful in the value placed on empowering the next generation of leaders. In this regard, I appreciate the opportunity to act in this role over the past five months, working closely with the group CEO and my predecessor before his departure." 

She adds that she looks forward to finalise streamlining the finance team for optimal efficiency and the improvement of quality of delivery as an immediate priority. "Additionally, I'm eager to roll up my sleeves and work alongside the rest of the executive team in delivering value for our investors amidst the challenges posed by the global Covid-19 pandemic. I hope that my appointment will not only ignite ambition but also motivate other young black professionals to ready themselves for when such opportunities present themselves."

Jubilant is a qualified CA(SA) and member of SAICA. Following the completion of her articles at PwC, she held various positions at mining entities such as BHP Billiton, Wesizwe Platinum and Merafe Resources, before joining Wescoal in October 2018.

According to a statement by the company, since her appointment as acting group CFO, she has successfully overseen Wescoal’s positive interim results.

Wescoal has also announced the resignation of its group CEO, Reginald Demana, for personal reasons. He will leave the company by the end of June 2021.
