KPMG will however remain Gold Fields' auditors for the 2018 financial year to end December.

This week JSE-listed mining company Gold Fields announced that it would be replacing KPMG as its auditors. While KPMG will remain the miner’s auditors for the 2018 financial year, the company has appointed PwC for the 2019 financial year. This, after concluding a formal tender process.

When making the announcement, Gold Fields did not mention the Guptas or VBS Bank scandals, as did other companies making a similar move away from the auditing firm. Gold Fields also stressed that its reason for changing auditors was not because of any disagreements.
