Although Till has resigned, his priority is to make sure that "it is business as usual" for the finance function.
On 28 November Vodacom announced the resignation of its CFO and executive director Till Streichert to pursue an opportunity outside of Vodacom.
Following his resignation, Till will step down from the board in June 2020.
In a statement, Till said that since he is only leaving in June 2020, his first priority will be to make sure that “it is business as usual” for the finance function, while at the same time ensuring there is a seamless transition to the next CFO.
“After 12 years at Vodafone and six years with Vodacom, it is a decision that wasn’t taken lightly. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in South Africa and dealing with a number of challenging situations across the various Vodacom operations in Africa.”
Till was crowned the CFO of the Year at the 2017 CFO Awards. He also walked away with the Strategy Execution Award and Finance Transformation Award.
Till took the reins as CFO of Vodacom Group in August 2015, after serving as the Executive Director of Finance for Vodacom SA from February 2014. He had been the CFO of Vodafone Romania and held a number of senior positions in that country. Till started out working for the CEO ofb Germany and moved on to senior roles at T-Mobile UK, in addition to working as a strategy consultant at The Boston Consulting Group. He holds a doctoral degree from the Hanover College.
Till’s resignation comes two days after the group chief technology officer Andries Delport’s resignation with effect from May 2020, who will also be pursuing external interests after being with the company for 23 years.
