The Cape Town leg of the 2025 CFO South Africa summit will bring together some of the brightest finance minds in the country to delve into navigating the complexities of modern business, fostering collaboration and leading with agility in a rapidly changing business climate.
Today’s CFOs are expected to be more than just financial stewards – they are strategic leaders who drive innovation, shape company culture, and anticipate future challenges.
Titled Beyond Finance, this year's event will take place at 180 Lounger, in the heart of the Mother City’s bustling CBD on 8 April 2025. Participants will delve into the softer skills, and forward-thinking approaches that have become essential for CFOs.
The event will be kicked off with an interactive session on skills needed beyond just crunching numbers by CFO Awards judge and former CEO of Brave Inflexions Dr Claudelle von Eck.
“Organisational cultures aren’t one dimensional. It’s a combination of people coming together, living together and working together in a specific way. However, each person has their own perspective, informed by their past experiences,” Claudelle said at last year’s CFO Day.
She added, at the time, that every decision or action impacts a culture, and CFOs have to consider the ripple effect.
This will be followed by a panel discussion on skills needed for the next generation, with Zanli Botes, a financial accountant at JobJack, and Shaista Hendricks executive: group finance at Oceana.
An open dialogue, titled CFOs look beyond finance, will be up next, with Vincent Motholo, CFO at the University of Cape Town, Casper Troskie, CFO at Old Mutual, Gordon Traill, CFO at Clicks Group, Emmah Makomva, outgoing CFO for Godrej Consumer Products: Southern Africa , Lorraine Venter, Sales director MEA at OneStream Software and Teri Solomon Claims advocate leader at Marsh Africa, leading what can only be a robust and insightful discussion.
At a recent finance indaba, Vincent pointed out that CFOs are central in any organisation because they are an enabler of many aspects of the business, and as a leader of finance it is important that they take a lead when it comes to ethics.
It promises to be an exciting evening filled with insightful conversations and networking with industry peers, while taking in breathtaking 360 views of the Mother City from a magical rooftop terrace.
