Empowerdex has been issued with a three-month suspension order following Angelo Agrizzi's testimony.

The South African National Accreditation System (Sanas) has issued B-BBEE consulting and verification firm Empowerdex with a three-month suspension order.

This follows allegations of bribery at the judicial commission of inquiry into state capture.

Former Bosasa COO Angelo Agrizzi (pictured) testified in late March that Bosasa gave R40,000 to an employee of the verification company to “sort out the BEE ratings.”

At the time Empowerdex denied any knowledge of the bribe being paid or solicited, saying that it considered itself to be a good corporate citizen.

Sanas launched an investigation into the correctness of the allegations being made by Agrizzi, resulting in the suspension of four Empowerdex regions’ certificates of accreditation on 4 April.

Empowerdex confirmed the suspension and said it would work with Sanas to clear its name. The company will also conduct its own external investigation into the matter.
