The Bloomberg Billionaires Index has pegged the Amazon founder's net worth at $150 billion.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, released yesterday, Amazon.com Inc founder Jeff Bezos has a net worth of $150 billion, making him the world’s richest person.
The 54-year-old Bezos' net worth has increased by over $60 billion in the past 12 months, hence his claiming of this ‘world’s richest’ title. In fact, Bezos is by far wealthier than Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates – some $55 billion wealthier, to be specific, and is also richer than anyone else on earth since at least 1982, when Forbes published its first wealth ranking.
This is Bezos’ second time atop the world's rich list. In July last year, he briefly overtook Bill Gates to become the world's richest man (according to Forbes), when Amazon's shares surged. His victory was short-lived, as he returned to second place once the share price decreased.
