Anglo American Platinum is expecting first-half profits to increase by 350 percent.

Anglo American Platinum (Amplats) has said it is expecting a more than 350 percent increase in half-year profit. Improved operational performance and a more favourable rand basket price for platinum are among the reasons for the growth.

In addition, the company says it expects headline earnings per share (Heps) to come in between 1,249 cents and 1,302 cents per share for the six months ending 30 June. That is compared with 285 cents per share a year earlier.
