Astral Foods CEO Chris Schutte hospitalised after motorcycle accident

Astral Foods CFO Daan Ferreira will be the central contact person during Chris Schutte's absence.

Astral Foods CEO Chris Schutte had an accident during a motorcycle trip in celebration of his upcoming 60th birthday.

According to a statement released by the company, the incident occured on a dirt road in a remote area in the Great Karoo on 19 September.

Chris was airlifted to a medical facility in George, where he is being treated for multiple fractures. Once stabilised, Chris will be transported to Johannesburg, where he will have to undergo further surgery.

“At this stage, the recovery period is unknown,” the statement read. The company’s board extended its best wishes to Chris and his family. 

Astral’s executive management team is in place to deal with all relevant operational matters, and CFO Daan Ferreira will be the central contact person during Chris’s absence.
