As the CEO, Mzamo plans to help the agency drive sustainable impact on people and brands.

South Africa’s largest 100 percent black owned agency, Avatar Agency, has announced the appointment of Mzamo Xala as its new group CEO.

Mzamo, who is currently leading dual roles as chief strategy officer and managing director of Avatar Agency’s B2B company, Resilience, will step into the role in March when co-founder and current CEO Veli Ngubane will step into the role of chief creative officer.

According to the agency, it hopes to drive sustainable impact on people and brands under Mzamo’s leadership. “We will continue to showcase and demonstrate how our world-class people, working with world-class clients, come together to create world-class work,” Mzamo said. “The encouragement, challenges and feedback our clients give us inspire us to do better, every day. We will continue to challenge ourselves to deliver work that is relevant, original and impactful.”

The announcement comes as the company celebrates its 10-year anniversary.
