Justin O’Meara will take over as AVI CFO from Owen Cressey, who has taken a new role at Mondelez.

AVI Group has announced the appointment of Justin O’Meara as its new CFO and executive director with effect from 1 January. Justin will be taking over from Owen Cressey, who has tendered his resignation.

Justin, a qualified CA(SA), completed his articles at KPMG in 2003, after which he was employed by the firm as an audit manager and senior audit manager. The company said in a statement that Justin’s long tenure with the AVI Group, his senior role at AVI’s group office and his sound knowledge of the group’s business, operating model and financial reporting standards will provide for a seamless transition.

Owen will be taking up the role of business unit president for sub-Saharan Africa at Mondelez International in January 2022.

The company thanked him for the “important contribution” he made during his 15-year tenure, and wished him well in his new role.
