ArcelorMittal South Africa has appointed Avinash Desmond Maharaj as its new CFO.
Steel company ArcelorMittal South Africa announced the appointment of Avinash Desmond Maharaj on Friday last week.
From 1 October, Avinash will be taking the place of Gerhard van Zyl, who has been acting Chief Financial Officer at the company since the resignation of Dean Subramanian in May this year.
The embattled steel company’s share price dropped more than 16 percent on the news of Dean’s resignation in May this year. It has since recovered somewhat but remains volatile.
Avishash will also serve as an executive director of ArcelorMittal.
He is a qualified chartered accountant with 22 years working experience, 17 of which he served at a senior executive level in finance and general management.
