Barloworld has announced that group finance director Nopasika Lila will retire on 30 November 2025, following a successful tenure that began in 2019.
During her time at Barloworld, Nopasika’s responsibilities extended beyond finance, including her role as CEO of the Barloworld corporate offices. Before joining the group, she served as chief executive and principal officer of the Eskom pension and provident fund.
Earlier in her career, Nopasika pursued entrepreneurship when she co-founded Astute Intellect, a financial and governance consultancy, with Nomfundo Qangule, former CFO of Harmony Gold. Reflecting on her career journey, she said, “I ventured into entrepreneurship when I established Astute Intellect, a financial and governance consultancy. I co-founded this business with Nomfundo, a former CFO of Harmony Gold. I missed the corporate environment and subsequently made the decision to move back, which is why I joined the EPPF as the CFO.”
Although she initially considered studying music, Nopasika built a distinguished career in finance and dedicated time to mentoring future leaders. “I marked the board examinations for chartered accountants for a number of years, during which time I realised that more mentors are needed for young upcoming CAs. I have since mentored many individuals who are now qualified CAs and CFOs,” she added.
Barloworld has appointed Relebohile Mosaletseng Sehoole Malahleha as the new group finance director, effective 1 December 2025.
Commenting on the leadership transition, Barloworld CEO Dominic Sewela said, “The Board and I are all indebted to Nopasika’s contribution and wish her well in her future endeavours. Furthermore, I welcome Relebohile into her new role and remain confident that she is the right person to take the Group to the next level as we continue to ‘Defy Limits’ in our approach to business.”
