BCX CEO Isaac Mophatlane resigns

Isaac Mophatlane (pictured) has resigned as CEO of Telkom subsidiary BCX, a company he founded in 1996 together with his twin brother, Benjamin.

Mophatlane took over stewardship of BCX after his brother's death in 2014. In June 2016, Telkom named Mophatlane as CEO of then newly-integrated Telkom Business and BCX units. Telkom acquired BCX in 2015 in a R2.7-billion cash deal.

According to Telkom spokeswoman Jacqui O'Sullivan, although he has already left the company, Mophatlane will still consult to the Telkom group CEO, Sipho Maseko, in the coming three months.

Ian Russell, who has served as group chief transition officer until now, will replace Mophatlane with immediate effect, the company said.

No reason has yet been given for Mophatlane's sudden and surprise departure.
