He will, however, remain CFO of Steinhoff, as no wrongdoing has been found

In the wake of the ongoing, debacle surrounding Steinhoff, which is proving devastating to the company and its share price, Ben La Grange has resigned from his position as CEO of STAR (Steinhoff African Retail Limited), effective immediately, to instead focus solely on his role as CFO of Steinhoff.

Based on the current information at the board’s disposal, it has been said that there exists no evidence suggesting that La Grange, as CFO, had any involvement in the matters under investigation. The company has thus confirmed that La Grange will remain in his position as head of finance.
